Rulindo coffee farmers rewarded



On 7th May 2017, RPF/Inkotanyi members who grow coffee in Rulindo District celebrated their success in the sector. Those who excelled in their 2016-2017 targets were prized with different awards that included a cow, community-based health insurance (mutuelle de santé), coffee sprayers, farm scissors etc.  

This function took place concurrently in six zones (Kirenge, Cyinzuzi, Burega, Murambi, Buyoga na Tumba.) 

Mr. Mulindwa Prosper, the vice mayor in charge of economic affairs commended coffee farmers contribution towards the development of Rulindo District. “You have acquired more infrastructure facilities, your welfare has improved, you are healthy, thanks to the coffee sector. Never abandon it.” He urged them.   

Of all farmers, HABIMANA Cyprien from Buyoga sector was the best performer and was rewarded with a Frisian cow worthy 360,000 Frw. Among other prizes were community-based health insurance fees for 26 families and agricultural products/materials worthy about two million Rwandan francs.    

To the farmers, Mugiraneza Venuste, the representative of coffee cooperatives in Rulindo requested more collaboration in implementing good agronomical practices in their farms and obedience to the coffee zoning policy.
