The two days meeting was organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources under the theme: The role of Agriculture in the fast growing Rwandan Economy.
The objective of the meeting is to charter a way forward beyond the first CAADP implementation cycle, to share Rwanda’s CAADP experience with its regional and international partners involved in the same process and also discuss on how to mobilize private capital.
This meeting attracted different people from different areas of Agriculture including the donors, Agriculture experts, Policy makers, donors, representatives of the ministries of Agriculture from different African countries, The New Partnership for Africa’s Development( NEPAD), African Union Commission( AUC) and other Regional and International Organizations.
During this meeting, they highlighted the importance of CAADP in developing Agriculture sector on the Continent.
Rwanda in particular, the implementation of CAADP Compact has helped in dealing with so many challenges like low productivity, high post-harvest losses and food security. Where by the productivity increased from 3 to 10 times and post- harvest losses reduced from 35% to 12%.
It was also pointed out that to achieve more in line with CAADP, there is need to work closely with the private sector.
