NAEB’s new CEO takes office

Today, 31st August 2020, the chairman of NAEB’s Board of Directors, Mr. Joshua Rugema chaired the handover ceremony between NAEB’s outgoing Ag. CEO, Mrs. Sandrine Urujeni and the incoming CEO, Mr. Claude Bizimana. Sandrine Urujeni will remain as the COO.

In his remarks, Mr. Rugema acknowledged the outgoing Urujeni’s efforts in heading the institution despite different challenges under her tenure that include the COVID19 outbreak impact. “NAEB positioned itself as one of few companies that resisted to feel the hit of COVID19. Your efforts are commendable! Looking at challenges mentioned, you stood firm and so resilient” Stated Mr. Rugema.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors also urged the new Chief Executive Officer and her new deputized Chief Operations Officer to keep going forward and put NAEB on another level. “It is possible.” He said

He also acknowledged the two powerful appointments of the new CEO and COO in NAEB promising them the full support from the Board of Directors. “You have all the needful to make this institution shine even better. You need to explore existing opportunities and dig more.”

Sandrine Urujeni extended her gratitude to the government’s leadership through the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources, members of NAEB’s Board of Directors, entire staff members for the support provided to her during her leadership when the institution was mostly faced by COVID19 outbreak challenges.

“We tried to limit the consequences the pandemic was causing compared to other sectors and I am very sure that the battle is still manageable. Covid19 is a challenge but we are committed to keep the sector moving. We commit our efforts in bringing NAEB to another level.” She revealed to the new CEO.

Mr. Claude Bizimana, the new appointed CEO appreciated H.E Paul KAGAME, the President of the Republic of Rwanda for the trust in appointing him. He pledged to build up on existing achievements and develop the agri-export sector further. “My predecessors have paved the way and I am here to support them making it more beneficial. I pledge all my efforts to ensure we deliver to the institution’s mandate. It is an honor for me to be appointed as CEO, I take it as a new opportunity not only in my career but also in serving my country, am a big dreamer for achieving more.” He said.

The function was also attended by NAEB’s senior managers following the Friday’s decision of the Rwandan Senate to approve Claude Bizimana, appointed by the President of the Republic on 26th of August 2020 as the Chief Executive Officer at NAEB.  

Mr. Bizimana Claude holds a considerable experience in agriculture sector. Before his new appointment as the CEO, he was coordinating African Union Projects in Rwanda, lecturing at University of Rwanda and serving as the focal person of CAADAP (Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Program) in Rwanda.
